The Faculty of Commerce, Management & Law at the University of Namibia (UNAM) and the Faculty of Commerce, Human Sciences and Education at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) invite local and international academics, students, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, stakeholders and key experts to participate in the  1st Joint Annual International Conference  (JAIC 2022) scheduled for the 28th and 29th September 2022, Windhoek, under the theme: Sustainable Development (SD) and Global Challenges in the 21st Century.

Conference Aims

JIAC 2022 aims to bring together academics, practitioners, researchers, policymakers, scholars, and stakeholders from across the globe to share their experiences and research output through academic dialogues pertaining to aspects of sustainable development and global challenges facing the 21st century.  Additionally, it provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to disseminate knowledge through peer learning and intervention on various key subject matters and global challenges in the attainment of the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Lastly, JIAC 2022 offers a platform to share practical solutions and recommendations to these challenges which are relevant to Namibia, Africa, and the world as a whole.

The sub-themes in these are as follows:

  • Business and Accountancy for Sustainable Development
    Global challenges for Corporates, Climate Change and Climate financing; Financial Ethics; Financial Audit; Future Perspectives of Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies; Financial Ethics; Corporate Governance; Financial Literacy; Financial inclusion; Corporate Social Responsibilities; Corporate Strategy and International Taxation; Enhancing Consumer Engagement, and Robotics.
  • Contemporary Economic Issues
    This includes papers on Rebalancing; Growth and Development in a Multipolar Global Economy; Agrarian Change and Rural Development; Housing Challenges; Rural-urban Migration; Gender, Poverty, Inequality and Conflict; Energy and Environmental Security; Economic and Social Inclusion or Exclusion; Fiscal and Monetary; Policies for Economic Recovery; Industrial Development and Trade; Robotics and Future of work; Law and Sustainability; Industrialization Policies and Structural Changes, and Political Economy.
  • Political Science, International Relations and Global Health Crises
    This includes papers on Covid-19; International Political Economy; Digital Diplomacy; Politics of Vaccines; Intra-state Conflict and its impact on global political economy; Domestic Economies; Pandemics and Health Systems; Ethics and Systemic Corruption; State Survival, Politics and Public Administration Issues.

Conference participation is free and open to the public, although there are limited spaces available.
