It is a great pleasure indeed for me to welcome you to the Centre for Open, Distance and eLearning (CODeL). I congratulate all those joining us for the current academic year for having secured a seat at our Centre and I look forward to welcoming those prospective students who wish to study with CODeL in the next academic year. This is the first step towards fulfillment of your educational dreams and for the next years that you are here, we hope, that you gather the best of knowledge and experience.
CODeL is an academic Centre at the University of Namibia. It was established through the merger of the Centre for External Studies (CES) and the Centre for eLearning and Interactive Multimedia (CeLIM) in 2016. Our role is to contribute towards the University’s vision, mission, values and strategy by providing high quality open and distance learning programmes through the use of state of the art Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) and blended learning approaches.
As a hub for both print based and electronic learning material, CODeL ensure greater access to higher education and equity for students from diverse educational backgrounds living in diverse conditions, thus we promise to provide our prospective students with best facilities, approaches and methods that support:
- flexible learning;
- self-directed;
- collaborative learning;
- accessibility;
- convenient learning and;
- enhanced choices for study;
Each and every CODeL student should have a strong motivation to achieve his/her personal learning goals, a desire for acquiring knowledge and believe in hard work, discipline and sincerity. We at CODeL will do our part in assisting you in achieving those set out personal learning goals.
For most of you, this might be the first time that you are studying through distance mode, thus you might face problems trying to adjust to the new learning environment; so know we are at your backing call to discuss any challenges that you may face, and understand that the success of all students studying via CODeL is our main priority.
