Materials Development is a Unit responsible for the planning and coordination of all study materials for CODeL. Materials are written by content experts, mainly lecturers under the expert guidance of ODL Instructional Designers.
Our functions are, but not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining an electronic study material management system
- Reviewing and coordinating study materials
- Compiling and managing annual study materials submissions
- Assure Quality of all study materials
- Implementing and securing copyright infringements
- Coordinating the timely flow of material production process
- Coordinate the printing and production of study materials
Instructional Design for online courses:
- Liaise with faculties to secure outlines of the online courses that need to be developed;
- Identify the different role players, e.g. content developers/subject matter experts, media specialists, etc.;
- Design storyboards in collaboration with subject matter experts;
- Select appropriate authoring tools;
- Train subject matter experts in the use of authoring tools/importing into the Learning Management System (LMS) in order to create the online course content;
- Do quality checks before signing content off.
