EDUCON is a bi-annual research conference organised by the School of Education under the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences at The University of Namibia. This year’s conference theme is Reimagining and Shaping Education beyond 2030 through Innovation, Inclusivity, Resilience, and Sustainability“. The conference will take place on the 08th – 10th September 2026, in Windhoek, Namibia.

The global education landscape stands at a critical juncture as we steer beyond 2030, facing unprecedented challenges that demand transformative approaches to teaching and learning. As nations worldwide commit to the Sustainable Development Goals and work toward reimagining education for future generations, there is an urgent need for dialogue that bridges innovation with equity, resilience with sustainability, and global aspirations with local realities. The University of Namibia recognises this pivotal moment and is proud to convene educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to collectively shape an education system that is responsive, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
The conference is strategically structured around four interconnected pillars that reflect on global priorities in diverse educational landscapes. The first, Innovation in Pedagogy and Technology, confronts the digital revolution head-on, challenging educators to integrate artificial intelligence, creative pedagogies, and transformative assessment to prepare learners for the complexities of the 21st century. This is inextricably linked to the second pillar, Fostering Inclusivity and Equity, which places our specific national context, such as multilingual education, indigenous knowledge, and gender equity at the heart of a global conversation on Universal Design for Learning and community engagement. We assert that true innovation must be inclusive, ensuring no learner is left behind in the pursuit of educational advancement.
Furthermore, the conference taps into the foundational human elements required to sustain these shifts. The theme of Building Resilience in Educators and Students addresses the well-being of the educational community, drawing crucial lessons from global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic to foster environments where both teachers and learners can thrive amidst adversity. This focus on resilience directly supports the fourth pillar, Sustainable Education for a Better Future, which moves beyond environmental stewardship to encompass sustainable resource management, the decolonisation of pedagogies, and the cultivation of educational practices that are culturally relevant and enduring for indigenous contexts
