The Oshakati Campus continues to be a flagship of the University of Namibia, hosting academic programs which are offered through faculties at Main Campus- Windhoek. Its geographical location in the heart of Oshakati town makes it easily accessible by visitors, tourists or any prospective students. We offer a full time programme in Nursing Education, distance education programmes in other fields of studies through the Centre for External Studies, a Science Foundation Programme, English Access programme as well as some short courses and projects run in consultation with our development partners. Distance education makes further education possible in this densely populated part of the country, where prospective University students working full time or those with family commitments could otherwise not have the opportunity to access higher education.
The Campus recently celebrated the 10th year anniversary of the Science Foundation Program (SFP), a bridging programme aimed to widen access, equity and equality to higher education especially to previously disadvantaged and/or marginalized groups by giving them an opportunity to enroll in science-related degree programmes at UNAM. This concept has now grown in popularity within the university system and has since been replicated at the Khomasdal Campus. The English Access program was designed to assist the students who have reached the minimum required points for admission to the UNAM system, but with a poor grading in English.
The Campus also offers a host of short courses and community engagement initiatives in collaboration with our development partners and government institutions/agencies such as: the Record Keeping Project with the Ministry of Finance, as well as the SME Mentorship Program offered in collaboration with the Development Bank of Namibia.
I urge all those who want to make learning fun yet successful, to apply to this warm, empowering and nurturing campus.
