As part of our social responsibility and mandate as an agent for development, Ogongo has an elaborate community outreach program which avails staffs to participate in transferring agricultural production skills and knowledge to the surrounding communities. The program allows results of applied research that staffs have carried out on campus farm to be disseminated to the communities. The campus also organizes a series of seminars and farmer information days to share new and improved farming practices with the communities. Some staffs are involved in career fairs and on-going farmer's technical support and mentorship programmes on poultry and range livestock production.
Training of communities on rice, pearl millet and fodder production are also becoming a new norm for the campus. The campus is also considered a focal point for practical demonstration of almost all aspects of agriculture. Each year the campus receives over 70 institutions such as primary and secondary schools and vocational colleges for practical exposure of their learners to different aspects of agriculture and natural resources management.
