The department provides three specialized areas for the postgraduate qualifications, in the field of Military Geography, Military History and Military Law. The academic programme in Military Geography enables a military officer to obtain a qualification that serve a tool for decision making in solving special environmental related problems in military context and operations. Further the study focuses on the effect of military conduct when in contact with the natural and physical environment.
The qualification in Military History is a professional qualification that is multi discipline that cut across a range of disciplines, which enables a military officer to acquire conceptual skills that promote critical thinking and develop holistic approach to conduct research in general military history related events in the military environment.
The qualification in Military Law prepares and develops a military officer to acquire knowledge and skills related to contract laws, military law; general introduction to law and law of evidence.
The department blends the qualifications with HRM modules which allow students to have an understanding of the Human resource management aspects. The module aims to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of the functions, roles and challenges of human resource management as future managers and leaders in the Defence Force.
The students are required to produce a research project with a selected theme that is relevant to the qualification.
