The Namibian Portfolio for Languages was created and launched in 2013 as a research project of the French Section at Unam. The conception of the Portfolio was done with the participation of lectures at the Unam French Section and three teachers of French in Namibian secondary schools.
The Portfolio is designed to provide a platform for self-assessment to assist learners to assess themselves in the learning process of languages. This is necessary to monitor the progress, at the same time, identify weaknesses and strengths which have been proven to improve learners’ performance.
After the successful implementation in schools, the research has now entered into phase III aiming at evaluating the effectiveness of the Portfolio as a formative assessment tool for learners and guide for teachers.
